Anuragi On His New Album Launch!
Anuragi, a hindi-rock band which has recently released their album ‘Zaher’. You might have heard their songs but did you know the story behind them? Let’s hear it from Rajesh Anuragi himself!
1. It seems that there’s a story around your recent album launch Zaher, right from the ease of Childhood to that phase wherein you just feel like going home. Would you want to say anything about it!
Well! It’s true. ‘Zaher’ is a collection of 9 songs from different stages of my life. When I wrote them I wasn’t aware that these songs would be compiled as an album someday. I just wrote them with the emotions I had in those stages. In fact it’s the mirror of my life.
2. Your song ‘Bachpan’ talks about your childhood but what about other songs?
Yes, I collected all memories from my childhood and wrote ‘Bachpan’. Then I moved to a small town, studied hard and got admission in Medical College to pursue MBBS degree. This young fellow fell in love with a beautiful girl. That’s how ‘JO KAH DE’ has been written. Later, I got admission in Banaras Hindu University to pursue MD. That period was so hectic that I couldn’t find time for my family and friends because of which I wasn’t able to fulfill my family responsibilities. That’s how song ‘Mujhe Ghar Jaana Hai’ came.
Later, Life became more stressful due to career and break-up with the girl I loved the most. ‘Kaala-Peela Paani’ evolved when I indulged myself into alcohol and drugs. Later when I shifted to Delhi, the title track Zaher came which is the story of a person who lives in a metro city like Delhi and who is lost. The rest of the songs too are some of the emotional instances of my life.
3. It seems to me as Shakespearean poetry ‘7stages of life’, is this the first time your album has such a storyline or your last album too had a similar interesting aspect to it.
(LAUGHS) You can say so since Zaher has different stages of my life. Our debut album ‘Nishaani’ hasn’t got a story like this. ‘Nishaani’ has songs mostly on ‘lost love, betrayal in love and honor killing’ emotions like NISHAANI, SAINYAA, MAULA MERE. Few songs are on college life and journey of a musician like DOSTI & GUITAR. So, you can say ‘Nishaani’ did not have these many emotions like ‘Zaher’.
4. What has been your music fantasy all these years?
I have a lot of fantasies for music. I can’t share them all but yes of course like every musician wants, I want to be recognized as a good artist. And I want to play at Royal Albert Hall of London once in my life.
5. Any memory that holds a special place in your mind around your music career that you would like to share?
When I was shooting our first music video ‘Nishaani’ at DPS Sonepat, some kids came running to me for autograph. I didn’t know how to give an autograph, in fact I still don’t know how to. Those kids didn’t know me but they were keen for my autograph, it literally touched my heart.
People say when music becomes a source of expression, it reflects truth and purity. Anuragi's music definitely has got it all. Check out his album below:
