Sophie Villy - New Video Release

Sophie Villy is a young Georgian musician, singer/songwriter, who performs internationally, composes for movies and has risen her word in alternative music scene in Europe and the US. Very exquisite mixture of trip-hop, alternative rock and electronica make a perfect base for her soulful, distinctive voice and deep lyrics.
She released debut album entitled “Mother Fish” at the age of 21. Her second LP –“Dress” (2014) – took a very different tack and became album of the year in Ukraine.
A greater sense of independence found expression in a safer city: “Dressed in myself I walk, I walk, I walk…”
As a third album, "Planet A" is more mature, eclectic and perfectly arranged. Every word and note in each song stands in its right place and it assures you that in this record artist has reached her true path, unique vision and voice.
Sophie has composed soundtracks for feature films from Georgia, America, and France – one of which "Lost in Escapade" was selected for the Cannes Festival Short Film Palme d’Or competition in 2015, and won "Best Original Music" at Euro Film Festival (Spain). She has been reported by KCRW in Los Angeles, BBC Radio 2, Indie Alliance Australia and London’s The Guardian newspaper as a primary representative of Georgia in the new wave music from around the world. In 2015 Villy presented her side-project “Philosophie” in Europe, while opening for Mercury Prize and Brit Awards nominee Anna Calvi in Budapest. Also in 2015, she played at the SXSW festival in Texas as the only representative from either Georgia or Ukraine. She has toured America on five occasions, headlining Fall Arts Festival in Florida, including a show at New York’s Brooklyn Bowl with Lana Del Rey's ex drummer Ryan Vaughn, show in Los Angeles with onstage support from Tom Waits’ guitarist Omar Torrez and Melody Gardot's drummer Chuck Staab. In 2017 on "Planet A" tour, Sophie was the first Georgian, who joined Sofar Sounds New York global concert series.
Album "Planet A" was released on 18th of April 2017. The tour started from New York City, Boston and Beacon, US. New record has been reported by KCRW and has received positive reviews from American and European music critics.
