Music became a part of daily life and memories early on. There was a harmonium in our house and I fiddled around with it. When I was 12, I started playing the guitar and liked how it sounded, so I carried on with it. Later, a few good friends at school introduced me to musicians that blew my mind. All of this made me curious about music and I knew that was something that really made me happy.
From there on started the journey to listen to music from around the world, and to learn the guitar. A host of musicians have shaped my world – From the prodigal guitars of Paco de Lucia to the beautiful vocals of Norah Jones, the frail yet strong songs of nick drake, and so many more - they have all played an important role in my musical journey - Even as I pursued an education that led me to a corporate career, I had always been passionate about creating music.
This love for music eventually led me to start writing my own songs for the past year. My debut EP ‘Talking away the night’, is a labour of love that has four of my original songs that are rooted in various styles. It is heartwarming to see an encouraging response from the listeners, which will egg me on to work even more on the craft. You can listen to my songs on my songdew profile, or visit my website http://shubhangijoshi.in/ for more updates.
I know this is the beginning, and there’s a long road ahead, but as long as I enjoy the journey, it is all worth it. I hope to see some of you live in my gigs .
