Independent music is still not considered a secure career in India, how did you deal with the conventional thought process?
Yes Independent music is not secure at all, especially in a far placed land like Nagaland. We do music because we are passionate about it and we believe we can make it big if we continue to strive and work hard.
What is the inspiration behind your music?
The world has seen enough of the Rock, Pop and Metal. Realizing the fact that we could give the world something new, fresh, and exciting we decided to experiment with Naga folk music along with various western genres.
Who are some of the artists who have inspired your style of music?
Cant particularly pint point a name but Rahul Ram of Indian Ocean has always encouraged us to do something with our rich and diverse folk music.
Which are some of the most memorable performances of yours so far?
There are lots but some memorable performances would be the International film fest of India Goa 2013, World music day Nagaland 2012, Hornbill Festival closing ceremony Kisama nagaland 2014 etc
What do you think about the changing scenario of Independent music in India?
I think that at the end of the day it all depends on how hard one works with his or her music. Even if you are associated with the grammy and if you are not passionate with your music.Working hard also cannot give you success. On the other hand even if you are independent and passionate about your music someone important might just notice you.
What are some of the changes/ developments?
Well right now as we see it there are some positive developments in our country. Bands are getting more and more exposure through social media and music related sites like Songdew,Reverbnation etc and people are also buying more music online, and maybe CD piracy is doing down. we just wish that there are more live shows.
What gives you more satisfaction as a musician- creating new music or performing or jamming?
Performing the music that we create :)
What would you like to say to some of the young , budding artists/bands who want aspire to become a musician like you?
Its a tough road not meant for everyone. If you have set your heart on music give in your soul too than you could get sucess. Remenber there is no shortcut to success, work hard not forgetting that it is a cut throat world of business out there. You may be disheartened but you should not give up.
