Indian Musicians Take Their Music Globally With Heritage Hues

The coming together of varied musical styles, cultures, thought processes and traditions gave birth to ‘fusion music’ as a genre and as a lifestyle. A genre that was pioneered by the legendary classical artists such as Pt. Ravi Shankar, Ustad Ali Akbar Khan, Ananda Shankar with their western counterparts, has evolved remarkably over the last few decades as more musicians got exposed to western music.
To carry forward a legacy such as this, the idea of creating a compilation of the finest fusion music that brings together a rich and diverse soundscape was conceived and named as ‘Heritage Hues’. Standing true to its identity, Heritage Hues seeks to bring out the virtue of Indian traditional music fused with modern contemporary sound and interpretations. The compilation digs out fusion artists from every nook & corner of the country and takes their music to a global level by promoting & releasing it on all digital platforms.
So far, two volumes of the compilation have been released featuring more than 25 artists from India and the same has been very well received by Indian listeners as well as brands. In the words of Avra Banerjee, one of the artists featured in Heritage Hues, “This Initiative by Songdew is a great way for our music to reach listeners who can’t think beyond Bollywood”.
