In Conversation with Blending Chords
Check out our conversation with 'Blending Chords', a band with a purpose to spread love, peace through their music.
1. You have just released your debut album ‘Hidden Things’, tell us something about it!
Our first Album Hidden things is the product of two years of coming together as a band. We believe in spreading the message of love, hope and peace through music. The album title Hidden things is based on Colossians 1: 26-27 (Bible, New Testament) “the mystery that has been kept hidden for ages and generations, but is now disclosed to the saints”. The lyrics of our first album are mostly based on the scripture (the Bible), personal testimonies and social issues. We try to make things simple so that we could relate somehow with audience and would be able to influence them in a good way. Some of the issues we face in our day to day life, personal experiences and scriptural truths are all included in this album and our styles of music have been inspired by the legendary Christian rock bands like Petra, Stryper and Whitecross.
Hidden things is a mixture of rock, glam metal, classic rock and alternative rock album. Our target audience is both youth and grownups.
2. Would you like to share anything about your debut album?
It’s a great feeling when you sell your first album successfully; playing lots of promotional shows and concerts in the year you release your first album. So for us we are satisfied with the way things are shaping up and we enjoyed every single bit of it. We are heading slow and steadily towards achieving our goals.
3. What do you think is the strength of Blending Chords?
Mutual respect as musicians and as individuals.
4. If you had a chance to work with one of your influences, who would that be and why?
I once had a chance to meet Mr. John Schlitts, former lead singer of the band Petra in Delhi. It would be a dream to work with him one day. I also wish to work with Michael Sweet from the band Stryper. I also admired the theatrical qualities and strong versatile voice of (L) Freddie Mercury of the legendary British rock band Queen.
5. On a scale of 10, where do you see Blending Chords, in terms of your aspirations from the band and why?
I will rate 8 out of 10. I know there are limitations since it’s our first album and also it’s our home production as well. But so far so good.
