Independent music is still not considered a secure career in India, how did you deal with the conventional thought process?
The currently accepted customs and conventional thought process of being musicians and beggars aren’t that much off….for us, like any band we try to carve out a niche for ourselves in the Indian Rock scene and when being burdened with the stereotypical attitude of music not as a steady career, it turns out to be unimaginative musically, especially in a way that lacked originality; and so we made a conscious effort of overlooking such issues and make real music that transcends boundaries, cause in the end Music is the only thing that will change the situation we live in
What is the inspiration behind your music?
Relying on senses other than your vision can evoke a greater comprehension for which feelings must be conveyed through a song and that is the main inspiration behind our music, to create something which will stand out within it’s own right.
Who are some of the artists who have inspired your style of music?
With different taste of music, each member has different musical influences. Generally, we have been influenced by Dream Theater’s amazing composition of songs. So also Deltra for their heart touching lyrics and Bryan Adams for his melodic tunes.
Which are some of the most memorable performances of yours so far?
Playing as an opening Act for Stryper Live Concert which was held in Kohima, Nagaland on the 22nd September 2012 ...is one of the most memorable till date
What do you think about the changing scenario of Independent music in India?
The increase in the number of music festivals has brought about a drastic change in the independent music scenario in India . once where Indian classical and bollywood ruled the music scene. but now thanks to the urban culture of younger generation, it’s pretty safe to say. The independent music scenario in India looks a bit brighter and promising.
What are some of the changes/ developments?
Thinking back on the independent Music scene in India, there are many people or groups who has made great changes and developments in the music scene. Amit Saigal is one of the names which instantly comes to mind, Him being the one who started RSJ (rock street journal) and even GIR (Great Indian Rock) concert has resulted in immense changes and developments to the independent music scene in India
What gives you more satisfaction as a musician- creating new music or performing or jamming?
Creating new music and performing or jamming are like two sides of a coin, you don’t feel complete with just one.. Intellectually and musically it is so much fun when composing new materials but at the same time we can’t imagine ourselves not performing those music live on stage….nothing compares.
What is your practice regime? How much do you practice on daily basis?
Regardless of the type of playing, or our proficiency level we try to maintain good fundamentals which includes incorporating them into our practice regime, for it is a certainty, they are perishable skills. As there is no Short-cut practice is a daily basis
What would you like to say to some of the young , budding artists/bands who want aspire to become a musician like you?
This pretty much sums it all up.... “your development as a musician will come to an eventual standtill if you do not develop yourself as a human being. Only by having creative, expansive and inspiring life can you create creative expansive and inspiring music”.
