Bands To Watch Out For in 2015 Part 2
An amazing stage presence by the band and their talent to work the crowd in any manner they please sets them apart from their peers, with upbeat compositions of their own to charm the audience, they probably remain the most certain of all the bands to achieve success in the music industry in the long run.
BASANTI OR WOAH
A fusion of electronic music and folk rock that seems weird to a first time listener but as you continue to listen to them they transcend all boundaries of musical genres and enchant you with a beautiful strong voice, and music that keeps you wandering on what’s next. Mahima with her powerful voice seems like the gust of wind and Azhar seems to be the mountain in her path, creating an unavoidable energy that seems to capture your attention and keep it, believe me when I say it, hear them live and you will never be able to stop till you’ve heard everything they create.
A powerhouse of a rock band, adrenaline pumping, vocal chord abusing and kick ass music creating their way on the list. They demand your attention as Joewin sings her war cry of sorts putting your mind at ease and the rest of the band Vamshi Krishna, Joel John Koshy, Amol Mahendra , Harish Jayanth, create a melody of Rock I haven’t seen them live yet but from what I have seen online, I can’t wait for when they come to town. Watch out for these guys as they might just rock your world.
THE DOPPLER EFFECT
Focusing on glam rock from the 80s would have helped no body, not today, not ever, but the way Sherry Matthews captures your attention and takes you on a roller coaster ride of their music which never comes down from the moment they start playing is both captivating and entertaining. The band seems focused on estabilishing their own style and with it their own name in the music industry. They don’t seem to be vringing back glam rock as they say they want to, they seem to be discovering their own music, and with it entertaining you to an extent where you can’t help but fall in love with them
Energy doesn’t mean jumping around on stage like kids to entertain, it means forming a connection with your audience, it means trapping them in your charm, either by hook or by crook, grabbing them by their ears and making them fall for your music, catching them midways and making them sing with you. Soul Inclination seems to be able to do that and just in time when people were beginning to think alt rock can no longer have great bands, Puneet comes out of his shell and makes you think whether one day, they might just be the biggest rock band in India
Another blues singer with talent no less than Norah Jones, her music though is quite different as she tries to create her own identity and set herself apart from her peers, a beautiful voice got my attention as I saw myself get drawn towards the song in a way that did not seem possible to me. While she can very well “rock it” on her own, and if it’s her band F.R.U.Z.U then they’ll “rock you” too. An experienced singer who seems to be focused on developing her strengths as a musician, she’s a pleasure to watch live and definitely a must hear for fans from all Genres
KANCHAN DANIELS AND THE BEARDS
In a world of Technicolor, they play the Blues. While they call themselves a blues/ blues rock band to me their music seems genre-defying entertaining, engaging, beautifully written and composed, with a powerful voice behind it. Kanchan seems to have mastered the art of creating music with her voice as she sings, a soulful voice and powerful guitar play sets them apart from your everyday blues rock bands. They can make you dance, they can make you sing and they can make your head bang to their tune, they are a modern day Pied Piper with the power to make you swivel as they swivel, I hope I get to see them live, and hopefully sooner than later.
Music isn’t just about a beautiful voice or great music, it’s about touching someone’s life in a way that no one seemed possible least of all the person who was listening to the music, her song, “Learned” is a reminder of old Regina Spektor Classics touching your heart in a way I did not think was possible, with a beautiful voice and an acoustic guitar, her music is her way of expressing herself and in some ways you.She remains my personal favourite on the list and my favourite Indian singer so far, and I hope she can climb the same stairs many before her did and reach the very pinnacle of musical glory that many before her could not.
PLAY IT BY EAR
A Two Piece band from Delhi, 2 guitar players who surely know how to entertain, while I am yet to see them live, the chemistry seems unbelievable hitting the perfect notes at every instance and entertaining you in a way that would make JJ Cale proud, a fusion of Blues Rock and Classic Rock, the bands seems a perfect fit for all occasions, I personally can’t wait much longer to see them Live.
A hindi rock band now in existence for quite long paying their dues as they go about their business the hard way, great music that seems to entertain you and keep you involved, I do hope to see more energy the next time I see them live but tracks like the ever so beautiful Morey Saiyaan and Rock star you can count on these guys having a great year in 2005
