Bands To Watch Out For In 2015 Part 1
He’s all what he tells you he is, he’s a big deal and promises to be a bigger deal with an ear to produce great music and the energy to captivate you with his lyrical flow. He’s Come, He’s seen and believe me when I say it, he’s about to conquer.
One of the most versatile pop acts to come out of the country, they despite the name don’t seem to be begging for attention, but with strong vocals and brilliant music, they deserve every bit of it. Pehli Pehli Baar seems like a quintessential pop track as the singer professes his love to the girl and believe me or not, but the voice might just have made the girl fall in love as well.
A musical Journey beginning beautifully with Time and Swaying it’s way magically into a Holy Night, a voice so beautiful it could cover not one but all genres of music with relative ease, her Gospel Tracks are as entertaining as her Pop Tracks, she makes you fall out of love with your favourite genre and start listening to whatever she has ever recorded, she might just be India’s answer to Regina Spektor or even a more bigger star. Watch out for this one.
There a lots of bands which can calm you down and send you on a journey of serenity but there a very few which can make you dance your legs off, and twirl on your way to that place, Rangrez happens to be just that band, with Jagdish Banga and Shibangi Nag being just the vocalist duo to do it. The band seems to be having fun with Vishrut Pande and Mansji Madan on guitars, Nishant Nagar on Bass, they could probably just end up featuring on coke studio one of these days.
Probably the most fun band on the list with their debut song Keh Ke Lungi, telling the male population,”Hey Dude, let’s flirt, but my way.” A powerful Voice placed over powerful music, telling a powerful story, a comedy mind you, makes you fall in love with this band, as they have fun making music and you have fun listening to it. Listen to it at your own risk, this just might be NSFW.
THE IYER PROJECT
Another vocalist duo of Chandramouli Chandrasekaran and Smriti Iyer put up a great show as they try to keep up with music which in itself can be the soundtrack of an epic movie. An alternative carnatic rock band trying to carve out a niche for themselves with tracks like Boondein and Vishwaroopan, they are certainly someone to watch out for.
THE HANITA BHAMBRI COLLECTIVE
A decent live performer and a brilliant singer, her stage presence is multiplied manifold as she starts singing, Into The Sun happens to be her greatest piece of work so far, now grown into the Hanita Bhambri Collective, these guys come together to create not just music but an experience and a wonderful one at that and having seen them live, they give you a show, an evening to remember them by.
There are a lot of people who can replace existing musicians in the Indian music circuit, there are a few who can walk through the door that takes them on the staircase of success, and then there is Mahesh, who chooses to blow up the building and walk with his guitar to the rumble lying around. With a brilliant voice and amazing guitar play his music captures your attention and captivates his audience, he might just be India’s John Mayer and with luck on his side, something even Bigger.
These guys seem to have it all, a great vocalist and even better music to accompany it, rehashing old forgotten tracks as well creating great old school rock music of their own, bang your heads seems like the thing to do when they are performing, an old school rock band with a newer sound, these guys just may be the thing to watch out for if you love rock music.
If the name doesn’t get your attention then let their music do it for you, a cello and a guitar make really good combo with a complete acoustic set, their music seems hellbent on getting you off your ass of neutrality and fall in love with Urban Jazz, watch out for these guys as they carve out a niche for themselves and an even bigger audience.
