Aarambh The Band
Tushar and Anirudh met in college during their first year. They formed a college band which doesn't go well in the later future. Later Tushar’s childhood friend Shivam also joined them and during their final year the trio finally managed to come up with a single ‘Koi Na Mile’ which led them to the formation of ‘Aarambh’. After our graduation (we all are engineers… :D), we started to work on our small album called 'Ek Taara', and with many push and pop, we completed it and released it online in February of last year.
Independent music is still not considered a secure career in India, how did you deal with the conventional thought process?
Well we haven't thought for such a thing, because we too are beginners and still making our ways. But we do know that in this turbo changing modern-era, people have started to find music online. This is a big relief for Independent music artists.
Hundred Octane falls in the 3rd category.
What is the inspiration behind your music?
This is a tough question. Since music already has a very divine and sacred place, deep rooted in our culture and society from the ancient times. So you can say that we are influenced by the music from our very childhood. And we think that this is true for each one of us.
Who are some of the artists who have inspired your style of music?
That is a huge list. Ranging From our neighborhood to our nation and then covering the whole globe. But this fan ship, which is an individual choice, helps us to form a collective inspiration for the entire band. We love A R Rahman, Mithoon, Tommy Emmanuel, Sigur Ros, Linkin Park, SafetySuit, Kailasa, Jal, and many more such artists.
Which are some of the most memorable performances of yours so far?
That moment is our first time on a stage as a band, i.e. our first performance, although it didn't go well.
What do you think about the changing scenario of Independent music in India?
Well the change is happening, and more and more artists are emerging and releasing their own music. This is a good thing and will promote the new and fresh music more effectively and widely.
What are some of the changes/ developments?
Independent music scenario is bringing a lot of change but it is still in its early stages. Good marketing strategies will always be helpful in promotion of any content.
What gives you more satisfaction as a musician- creating new music or performing or jamming?
We think that both of these things are interrelated. Jamming will give you new ideas and for creating new music, you first need to practice well.
What is your practice regime? How much do you practice on daily basis?
Currently in a week we normally met 4-5 times. For an average count, 4 will be the best.
What would you like to say to some of the young, budding artists/bands who want aspire to become a musician like you?
We are still beginners and learning the things, so ‘like you’ should be not the aspiration here.. :D.. But one thing we would like to share is that this path needs a constant hardship and a good heart. Not only the learning and practicing music is tough, but maintaining your composure is also difficult. Balancing these things along with the life is the most important thing for a musician.
